123D Catch

123D Catch
December 18, 2012 by rtroe

I’ve been playing around with 123D Catch from Autodesk for a little while,  it analyses a series of pictures of an object, and it creates a high poly count  3D mesh (50k-60k poly count) of it from the images. There are a few issues. The reflections on the car cause the mesh to heavily distort, as well as the top portion of my laptop doesn’t show, it must think that the screen back and the keyboard are the same thing since they’re the same colour.

But as someone whose done a lot of CAD’ing and a lot of 3D programing, I’m still in awe of this thing.
