Drifting through the endless river of posts coming out of Imgur, I stumbled on this the other day. A set of amazing pixel animations that so perfectly sum up what it was like growing up from the late 80’s and early 90’s as well as which captured what Japan felt like, at least for me, when I went traveling through there last summer.
In which ever way these images hit you, the best summation of it is the top comment on Imgur:
“No matter how much games, graphics, or vr advance; there will always be a place in the world for this beautiful style of art.”
Many of them are from Mark Ferrari although the Imgur post doesn’t list all of the owners unfortunately, I was able to find at least one other one using a reverse google image search which showed that a lot of the 8-Bit animations were done by Toyoi Yuuta.
I’m neither the owner nor the original poster of these, I just felt they’re worth sharing. The rest are over at Imgur.
